The Renovation
After purchasing Dolce Villa Toscana in 2022, we began planning a complete renovation to preserve the house’s character while adding the space and comfort needed for modern family vacations.
2022 — Finding the Villa
In 2022, we found the villa near San Gimignano and immediately fell in love with its peaceful setting, panoramic views, and traditional Tuscan character. The house had great potential, but a substantial renovation was needed to turn it into the comfortable family home we envisioned.
2023 — Planning
During 2023, we worked with a local architect to design a new layout for the villa and selected the companies that would carry out the work. Before construction could begin, permits and technical matters had to be arranged, which took considerably longer than expected.
2024 — Creating the Pool
During 2024, work also began on the private pool. A geological survey was carried out, and the required permit was applied for before excavation could begin. Solid rock was discovered during the groundwork, making construction more challenging than expected. The result is a 5.5 × 12 meter saltwater pool with panoramic views across the Tuscan countryside.
2024 — The Renovation
Between March 2024 and January 2025, the villa was completely transformed. The ground floor became a spacious open-plan kitchen, dining room, and living area, while former living spaces upstairs were converted into bedrooms. Five modern bathrooms were created, and the floors, walls, insulation, and original wooden beams were carefully renewed.
